Alvin's Power Supply Entrepreneurship Journey

Alvin's Power Supply Entrepreneurship Journey: From Huaqiangbei to Dual Production Lines in Shenzhen & Guangzhou

In 1980, 20-year-old Alvin left his hometown for Shenzhen with a simple dream of making a living. Back then, this booming city was riding the wave of China’s reform and opening-up, brimming with opportunities—and it became the starting point of his entrepreneurial journey.

Five years later, in 1985, fate brought Alvin to a computer repair master. This chance encounter led him to Huaqiangbei Electronics Market, where he started as an apprentice, diving deep into computer and circuit board repair. Immersed in the bustling, tech-filled atmosphere of Huaqiangbei, he learned from the basics: handling every component carefully, troubleshooting countless malfunctions, and building up his technical skills through years of hands-on practice.

By 1997, Alvin had mastered his craft. He opened his own tiny 1-meter counter in Huaqiangbei—a humble start, but one that showed his potential. With solid repair skills and honest business practices, his small stall thrived even amid fierce competition. This marked his first big leap: from an apprentice to a full-fledged entrepreneur.

2003 brought a sudden blow: the SARS outbreak. Offline markets collapsed, and Alvin’s repair business plummeted. Yet after years in the electronics industry, he held an unshakable belief in its future. Despite the hardships, he clung on, enduring the tough times with passion and hope for what lay ahead.

In 2008, another stroke of luck came Alvin’s way. He met Leo, an overseas Chinese who was visiting family in China. As they chatted, Alvin learned that Leo ran a computer repair business abroad and also sold computer accessories in bulk. Leo was looking for a reliable partner to help source products in China—and the two hit it off immediately. Their partnership opened Alvin’s eyes to the global market.

Thanks to Alvin’s sharp eye for quality (honed through years of repairing electronics), the products he sourced for Leo were always top-notch. By 2009, Leo’s business was thriving—especially his own brand of laptop power adapters. They became a hit overseas, selling well not just in Leo’s home country but also in two neighboring nations. This success made Alvin realize the huge potential in the power supply market.

In early 2011, Leo shared his insight: the power supply industry had a bright future. He proposed partnering with Alvin to research, produce, and sell power adapters in China—a idea that aligned perfectly with Alvin’s desire to grow his career in electronics. After months of careful consideration and discussions, they founded a company together in September 2011.

What followed was two years of intense hard work. Alvin and Leo focused fully on developing laptop power adapters, going through countless rounds of testing, adjustments, and trial production. They refused to cut corners, striving for excellence until they finally created a product that met their high standards.

In 2014, their efforts paid off: they set up their first production line for power adapters in Shenzhen. It was a milestone—turning their R&D成果 into large-scale production.

Just two years later, in 2016, the company expanded further. They opened a second factory in Guangzhou, boosting production capacity and refining their business layout. Today, Alvin and Leo continue to grow their business in the thriving electronics hubs of Shenzhen and Guangzhou, writing the next chapter of their entrepreneurial story—one built on skill, perseverance, and trust.
